my hunny and i are newly married, (our 1st house(rent) my grandma is renting it to us for 200 a month, kitchen and bath are tomy bed&livingroom is very spacious.. i have ideas for living room-hunting/fishing/cabinfeaver idea, kitchen-hawaii/ Lula theme (i found a pig shaped cutting board-1$ at a consignment* shop! very cute wanted to go off that) and the bathroom- im thinking pirates/shipwreck ?? && the bed room i have NO idea, i want it to be cozy and romantic… any help?? i have huge ideas, not much money to go by. i need cheap ideas.. any help will b great!

Split decision on hard-to-split peas
Q: I’ve tried twice to make split pea soup. Both times, the peas would not get soft. Any ideas? Also, I would love information on how to find a ham bone for soup. I have used the bone from a spiral-sliced ham, but what if you don’t have one?

KITCHEN IDEAS-Kitchen color?

I am so color challenged, I drive myself nuts! We recently
remodeled our kitchen and now have lovely honey oak cabinets. We chose
silestone for the countertops in a neutral color with specks of oak, white,
beige, and black and our sink is under mounted and black and our appliances
are white. Our floors, which we have had for years, are light terra-cotta
shade.
The hard part for me has been finding the right wall color. I have sandstone
colored walls in the living room and dining room and taupe walls in the
hallway and eat in kitchen area. I continued with the taupe around the oak
cabinets and it just did nothing for the kitchen. It looked washed out. I got
bold and bought a gallon of brick red paint and as I am painting, I am afraid
it is going to be too dark (my kitchen is not that big). I have earthy tones and
some reds in my living room and family room so I thought red in the kitchen
might tie in nicely, but I just don’t know if that is the right choice. If you
could stop by the house this weekend, that would be wonderful! If not, any
advice you could give me via e-mail would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
