This is a review of the Cuisinart SM-55 stand mixer. It’s a nice machine on theory but in practice has quite a few disadvantages over premium priced stand mixers (like this “KitchenAid HD” I reviewed – tinyurl.com ) You can compare CuisinArt prices here: tinyurl.com —————————————-

As far as Kitchen Aid , how can it have the power . The wattage is way lower. And for the disc being hard to clean,No problem if it is done right away. Love my Cuisinart. Wouldn’t trade it for anything . Lower price then KA as well.
I have the 7 quart , 1000 watt model . No complaints at all. I was making my bread by hand . But with arthritis I was finding it harder to get the dough worked enough to get the gluten working. The Cuisinart is great . Works the dough throughly and no flour mess on the counter either > All in the bowl. I make six loaves at a time and the mixer doesn’t have a bit of problem. As for flour going on the disc, just stop the machine for a second if you have that problem.
@nextgapdotcom The reason the cone is there is to protect the planetary mechanism from being damaged by splatters-but i would make sense if it was mounted further up the hook
@aries77aries First of all these review are not the words of the God, just my personal opinion…
second I doubt that your 25 yo mixer is the same as a contemporary one. Usually the older ones were better, or at least it feels like that. I still use Kenwood mixer.
Regarding a set up video – Thats my subjective opinion. What I didn’t like most in the Cuisinart is that it just doesn’t feel like “one piece”, & the attachments, had plastic and nut holding it which I didn’t like.
I have a Kenwood Chef mixer for 25 years its the exact same mixer as this one and it far superiour to kitchenaid in 1) it had much more watts and power 2) has over 20 attachments including a potatoe peeler and blender 3) the dough hook (as mine) has a plastic stopper to protect the dough from moving up and who the hells kneads dough on a high speed like that.?…this was definately a set up video to promote kitchen aid product .. the beater turning with motor head up is not dangerous xx
BOOOOOOOOOOO… Kitchenaid is better.
Honestly, I’ve owned this exact machine and the kitchen aid mixer, and I defiantly like this one better. But if you’re using it just for dough, any mixer will take a beating.
I agree, the dough often just goes for a “ride” with this dough hook design. I specifically bought this mixer to knead bread doughs- and based on superior reviews, I thought I was buying the best machine for the money.
@Blingadore The cover at the top of the dough hook is to keep the dough form creeping up the hook and onto the gears
WHAT THA FUCK!!!!! HOW MANY MIXERS DO YOU HAVE!
i agree with you! what *is* the purpose of that collar at the top of the hook?!?!
