OK, so I needed something for my dishwasher to indicate the condition of its contents other than a weathered post-it with CLEAN scrawled on it.
So I took a piece of cardboard, squared it up (uh-huh, right), fitted a folded piece of scrap fabric around it, sewed two sides (leaving one open for necessary cardboard insertion, OBVI), turned it inside out, machine top-stitched the third side (manually, or else I would have another broken needle), and then de-cor-at-ed it appropriately. Next, I super-glued a small, round magnet to the back.
Even with my half-ass sewing skills, I think it turned out very nifty. Now there will never be any question as to the current state of whatever is in the dishwasher.
Unless, of course, I forget to turn it over after starting the dishwasher cycle. But that’s of no concern right now. It looks purdy. And I can throw away that stupid post-it.
You can read this lovely narrative here on my blog if you like as well. SO fascinating.

replumbing the new dishwasher. It’s nearly impossible to get a compression fitting working when you can only access it underneath the dishwasher and you can’t see it because it goes into the back side of the solenoid. So I found a compression fitting extension tube and am installing it.
