tim did you ever use a speedyvalve?
not bad old man. Not bad.
Thanks, will be doing this on Saturday, so thanks.
Easy you reckon easy saying coming from pro but for someone that has no idea I don’t think so, mine you looks easy than said.
It took me while to figure out what he was talking about when he kept saying veggie sprayer. LOL
nice
Can someone help me? my father and I are installing a Cordova Tuscany Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet brushed nickel finish. ( 673-6455) We can’t seem to attach the neck of the faucet to the to these metal rings Im not sure of. How do we do this? Also the directions are poorly drawn and wrote so we are lost.
@Izzy45856 No. The water doesn’t come out of the veggie spray when the faucet is off and the veggie spray lever is pushed.
I’m probably going to ask a stupid question…
but do I have to shut the water off?
@Izzy45856 Hah! That happened to me years ago as a young apprentice plumber. You just have to unscrew the flexible spray hose where it attaches to the underside of the faucet. It will not be easy.
so this is a sort of comical situation that turned out to be quite the pain in the butt…
we were fixing a pipe under the sink because the valve had cracked and there was water everywhere… well we got the pipe fixed, now after words I discovered that the hose for the veggie spray got placed on the wrong side of the pipe so we can no longer pull it out and use it. How would i fix this? Is there a simple way I could do this?
i do have this one tool that works perfect woth those plastic nuts. Its a bar that had different knoches on each end of it. I think rigid make it, but its the best 20 bucks ive ever spent. its another version of the basin wrench
Woo Hoo!!! Congrats to you! You should be very proud, as it can be a daunting task. Just tell all you know about these videos and my AsktheBuilder website.
Thank you so much for posting this video. You’re concise and informative video gave me the confidence to finally replace our kitchen faucet successfully. My wife is ecstatic and i’ve managed to look like ‘a real man’ by being able to do this without flooding the kitchen. You are a saint for posting this video, seriously.
Yes. Are you using a basin wrench as I show in the video? If not, no wonder you’re flailing about.
are there different sized plumbing wrenches? Mine seems to big for the space I’m trying to use it in?
Call the Mfr hotline then…… See what they say.
it does stop when i use the veggie spray but starts jumping again as soon as i stop using spray. helppppp!
If you have a veggie spray, sometimes air in that hose causes this. Turn on the veggies spray and get all the air out of that line.
i installed a one handle faucet in my kitchen but spout jumps up and down when cold or hot water is turned on, almost like it has air in it. whats wrong???
Just changed my hair color, if you don’t mind…. I’ll bet the ladies love your compliments.
Great, gave me the confidence to finish the stupid install off. I was mentally constipated on weather Teflon tape should be used at the flex hose connections and you answered it here so thanks.
your video was very interesting.i just bought a house my i hate the faucet .. and i was gonna see if my husband could do it .i am sure your video will help.thank you for taking the time to do this
thank you Sir Tim!!! very informative and helpful tips!!!God bless you!!!
You can be one in the same here. It just so happens that when I was still actively building, I was a licensed master plumber here. Since I retired from active day-to-day building, I’ve not paid my fees to keep my plumbing license active. But I still retain all the knowledge. Well, until my mind starts to deteriorate.
@USRefugee hey good idea
From my hundreds of experiences I would suggest having a good look at your faucet and you should find a name brand on it. When you find that;head to the hardware store and purchase both a hot and cold stem and 2 seats. When repairing a leaky faucet make sure to check the seats on the faucets as corrosion may have taken place and they may have to be replaced as well. If the seats are bad and not replaced they will cut into the new washers and the faucet will be leaking soon after.Good luck
I guess.
@wngjapyng Only the washer that’s causing the leak. I’m no expert but in my experience so far it’s more often the hot side washer that needs replaced. You can find out which side by shutting off the hot stop valve only (under the sink) and see if that stops the leak. If not switch and try just the cold.
So easy a caveman can do it..
@hilocomtoot Hello! Just take the washer with you to handyman store and they will get you a matching one…lolz
@campr0s3 Thanks for the vinegar tip, believe i’ll take off all the handles and boil the hell out of them. I did all 4 washers in bath & kitchen, some easier than others to remove, that can get real tricky even with good quality Central Brass faucets if they are old I found out.
@TheRedstormshadow Thank you!
@hilocomtoot take the old washer with you to the store that’s what I will do.rubber is best material to use.
Very informative video, just wonder what one goes by to determine the washer size, is there a # on the washer to go by or just eyeball it? Also, what’s the best washer to buy not by name but by what material it’s made of? I’m going to give this a whirl!
Thank you,
Mike
This is a video that the staff at Leakpro felt demonstrates well the home repair of a leaky faucet.
also check out speedyvalve video by floodmaster awsome product!!!
“The packing nut” “pull the stem out” FTW !!!!
so do you have to replace the washer on both cold and hot side?
Yea baby!
Thank you. The repair went smoothly and no more leak. The cap was difficult to remove due to mineral deposit build up where the metal handle and the brass stem made contact. Boiled about a cup of white vinegar, turned off the heat, droped the handle in the hot vinegar for about an hour. Wiped down the brass stem with the vinegar and presto both were cleaned of the deposit. Very helpful video.
SNIKT SNITK
LOL
Haha i was going to comment the same thing, but you beat me to it!
Wolverine fixed my leak!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome..
lmao….this is a big joke…
Great video, replaced the entire steam and set that is in the neck of the faucet. Still have a problem with leak. Now it’s more a miniature flow.
After completing everything in the video there is still a leaky now worst than before…
A very helpful video. If there are any more of these videos, I think that you should call them: Helpful Home Repair Tips Demonstrated By A Werewolf. Look at those hairy paws!
If I don’t shut off the water, will water shoot out upon removal of the stem?
I’m asking because my water shutoff under the sink is frozen and the only alternative is to close the water valve outside, but this is a major pain because I live in a condo and there’s one outside valve for each four units.
I’m concerned about loosening the shut-off bonnet nut (under the sink) because I’m concerned it’ll break the line.
