GREAT WAY TO SLICE YOUR HAND WIDE OPEN AT 4:37 !
Your spacer fell at 3:50
Honestly I never heard of tiling over drywall and plywood.
@csimo13 well they lost money cause they couldnt do it. So I put it in myself.
Ok. The narrator and the guy tiling were saying and doing the opposite. Narrator said mix grout with a margin trowel. He used a drill. Narrator said to grout at a 45 degree angle; the guy is all over the place. You saw the grooves onthe back of the tile… Idk
thank you, your clip was very useful.
@ConvivialCreator And get a twist or a bend in your batten, even 1mm and you will be buggered a couple of foot up the wall!
God almighty.What a kerfuffle!
@looseparts
The reason behind this is because there is a 1/4 inch drop from one side of the tub surround to the drain side.
good video except the pre planing i could tile that whole house by the time he’s done pre planing for the shower
As a Bathroom fitter my self i recommend that u use disposable plastic or latex gloves.Tile adhesive dries out your skin real bad and can give bad demititis.

Sweet Baby Jesus, I think the Space Shuttle was built with less pre-planning….
ffs this takes waaaaaaaaay to long to lay tiles this way..
@csimo13 Sorry, Home Depot doesn’t do remodeling.
@lovetogokiev. My tub surround came out pretty good, but not perfect. I highly recommend using the batten-method as I built my tiles up starting at the top tub edge and the corners did not line up well. I used 1 square foot sheets of glass mosaics as my bottom row (leaving about 1/4″ gap to the tub top. Above that I used 4″ square tiles and then a thin row of glass mosaics for visual relief. Well, my corners are about 1/4″ off from lining up correctly – it doesn’t look prof – use the batten.
@looseparts I’m about to start the same project, but first need to get the old, fiberglass tub and surround out of there. Did you get yours done? And I also wondered the same thing about the tub edge as a guide….
pre-mixed grout is just as good and not a huge mess!!
lol wtf!?????
@mickyboy200768 If you plan to do a shitty job, that might be true. But if you practice and take your time you can do it. And you don’ t have to buy tools. I rented the tile saw from R & R for $35 for the weekend.
@SuperThissucks I believe the batten technic is used to make sure you start with a level first row. Not all floors and walls are level.
@looseparts If the top of your tub line is level you can start with the tiles there, and if you don’t have a window or other obstruction that will make a cut tile less than half size you can start with a full tile around the tube. Otherwise it’s that line that you cut so as to make up for unlevel stuff or even out your grid.
this VIDEO IS JUST CRAZY..MY BRAIN CANT CATCH UP..
@Millennmify Did your ancestors build The Leaning Tower of Pisa?
Can anybody tell me why he had to use a batten if he was going floor to topcap anyway? WTF!?!?!
