Great Video. Thank you and happy holidays. :O)

Tubing compression fittings don’t need thread compound. Thread compound on a compression fitting won’t stop a leak in a badly installed joint, anyway. Furthermore, contamination of the compression surface by joint compound may actually CAUSE a leak.

    Thanks

Karen recommends not using the first few batches of ice, you could alternatively flush the whole assembly into a sink/bucket before attaching to the fridge.

  5. sot2k1 says:

Where in the world did you get that compression valve??! I’ve been looking for it and i can’t find it.

  6. jamessmack says:

@cookmydinner im a master plumber and i would not recommend saddle valves and also they do not meet code in most states

  7. btocp says:

Personally, I wouldn’t want to move the fridge back into place before pulling the line through… if you move it back, you may not leave enough excess line to be able to move the fridge in the future.

Thank You very much for post good video.

  9. ColAngus04 says:

Wow, this was an excellant set of instructions!! I tried the saddle valve, and they are fantastic, if you want your pipes to LEAK!! The compression fitting is awesome!! Doing it this way took a total of 30 minutes.

  10. PreludeSi91 says:

I agree SADDLE VALE is easier and simple to install.

  11. loneleigh says:

    Thank you!

  12. cookmydinner says:

If you dont want to cut the line you can use a saddle valve. It just punctures the line. Quicker and easier.

  13. gastonbuffet says:

    thank you!

  14. Engluv says:

    Very well done

  15. midlantic1 says:

Hey Big Tony. What code are you working under? Our code, the national standard, states saddle or piercing valves are prohibited. We need to use an actual shut off valve. Now that’s not to say these valves aren’t used, but they shouldn’t be used by us, the licensed plumber. I also wouldn’t recommend a homeowner to use these valves. How many of these valves have you come across that either are leaking or won’t shut off?

@cdvoorhis – Did you fix the dispenser auger motor yet? If not let me know, I may be able to help with information. It may not be a bad motor even it it does not run. I have some suggestions if it still doesn’t work.

  17. cdvoorhis says:

The motor that runs the auger in the is bin stopped …. I have a new motor …. please advise re: installation, thank you Douglas

I just tried this and it was pretty easy but there isn’t any water going thru the tube. What did I do wrong?

  21. ccm800 says:

my kit has Copper piping! uh oh

  22. Danski6201 says:

did ANYONE else notice the normal outlet directly near the water lines!!!!!!!!!!! HELLLO!!!!! GFCI Outlets only and they shouldnt be that close to the water lines! Unless you want to be ZAPPED!….Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt

  23. idiginit says:

Saddle fittings are not permitted in both the UPC ant IPC, (nation wide plumbercrack). Those types of “valves” should never be depended on to turn off the water. Notice he didn’t install that crap in his own home.

  24. colombiano956 says:

my GE icemaker is not working

  25. iamit44313 says:

I moved into a new house and the old saddle valve has a small leak. Should I just replace the saddle valve?

  26. poorringo says:

Trying to do this right now. Loews connected the back. I have trouble with the valve. I put the tiny metal piece into the tube and then I put one of those plastic little things on and a bolt. It keeps coming out of the valve and squirting water all over. What am I doing wrong. This is my first time doing this,

  27. Justwatchin8282 says:

Hey Tony great video, this showed me alot. Only question I have is, the end you hook up to the fridge, do you have to add the nut, metal sleeve and a ferrell also before hooking to the fridge or is it already built up? Thanks,
    Josh
