Kitchen RENOVATION ideas! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mom and I are trying to help her recently divorced friend redecorate her house (so it feels more like HER, than her ex-husband). We really want to do some fun stuff to her kitchen but she’s on a budget. Her house is from the 80′s, and the kitchen is small with low ceilings and wall paper. We don’t know what to do, so if you have any ideas we’d really appreciate it!

I would first remove the wall paper. It is a tedious and messy job but well worth it. You can then paint the walls a fun and cheerful color. Coordinate it with new curtains and accessories and you can transform the kitchen for under $100. I have renovated all of own homes over the years and it is amazing how new paint can transform a room.
    Good luck.

Here’s a couple things to try – get rid of the wall paper (lots of muscle not $), prefab counter tops (not fancy stone but can be of good quality and good look), good paint color/s, paint/repaint the cupboards, and update the flooring. These things require time and patience, but a step at a time will get the job done. Since money is an object, paint is easy to change a kitchen quickly for low cost. The low ceiling may be a hinderance, but detract from it by accenting with vertical lines. Go with vertical pulls on cupboards, add a tall piece of furniture to use as a pantry/storage unit. Find a “theme” to jazz it up – 50′s vintage, wine country from Napa, vegetable tiles and accessories, accent her cookbook collection, etc. Possibilities are endless – just narrow down her style and go for it. Good luck – LT
