I want something really different for my kitchen. I am tired of the “norm” My cabinets are dark brown walnut, countertops white, floor is different shades of beiges, and walls are white.
Any neat ideas out there?

chose bright colors….
If you can afford it, get the cabinets re-faced in a lighter wood. If not, consider painting them – either beige, or even a mid-to-light green. Put up some sort of tropical border, or even wall paper a single accent wall with a tropical theme. Throw a rug in the middle, and voila! tropical kitchen!
My roommates friend make hers about plums.. she had plum carpets and cabinets and pictures and i know a lot of people do the apple theme which is really decorative
rainbow, cheetah, pink, mardi gras, sparkles/metallic, ocean, flowers, fruit, movie theater, stripes, polka dots,
any single color
any decade/ era
art deco
paint the walls
Rooster are pretty popular. So are cows and a whole black and white theme. Then there are vegetables or chili peppers. You really have alot of options. I don’t think you need to do anything drastic. Just dress it up abit. If you have a window maybe try one of those window ledge herb gardens. Plants always look great. A hanging basket full of lemons or limes can add a shot of color too.
Regardless of what it is think of your favourite thing or place and let that be your inspiration. So no matter how it turns out you will love it and that’s all that is important.
First, Decide on a theme for your kitchen.
Then find a local stained glass artist and have them design a stained glass mosaic backsplash for you.
Example, If you like horses, have them design a pasture scene with a barn and a split rail fence with a Horse and a Colt looking over the fence.
If you like wine, have them design a grape arbour with a wine bottle and a wine glass in the middle of it, Etc.
You can then incorporate Mosaic door panels to go along with it.
You can also have stained glass shutters made for your kitchen windows.
Paint the walls in complementary or neutral colors so as to not distract from your stained glass.
Do your counters and floors in multicolored natural slate in a diamond pattern 12″ tile on floor with a random placing of 6″ tiles amoung the 12″ tiles in groups of 4. use a natural gray grout
between the tiles.
Do your counter tops with 12″ tiles laid in a square pattern.
Mount tiny strip lights under the cabinets and rope lights under the baseboards.
If you do textured glass panel doors install accent lites inside cupboards.

Don’t be afraid to experiment , take a picture of your kitchen and
have them blown up or put them on your computer and open them in a program such as Paint , Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator and color and design to your hearts desire before you start any actual work.
Good luck and happy designing!
