We have just extended our home and we are now ready to start arranging the new kitchen. Any ideas or advice greatly appreciated for whats worked for you, what hasnt ect and things you couldnt live without

Windows in kitchen is a must for me. It brings the light in and also regulates the air and preventing smells of kitchen flowing to other rooms of the house. And I can always have my herbs growing on the window sill conveniently.

Check out the kitchen planner on ikeas website. You can design your own kitchens to fit your own house measurements and select which style of cupboards / handles / benchtops / appliances etc. There are pages of inspiration too, and ikea has thought of everything. I have designed a couple of different kitchens with this planner for relatives and they have ordered them and assembled them with sucess.
Start with the magic triangle of convenience first, the work around from there. Triangle = Stove to frig to sink. What I do NOT recommend is having the main sink in an island unit. Place the DW as close to the sink as you can and as near the major dish storage units as you can.

I agree with the first answer & Jeffrey. Also make sure you have enough counter space and I love my built in trash can.
