Painted Disney dwarves + budget kitchen appliances + that horrible corrugated exterior + a washing machine with a top hat? All the things that are wonderful about West St and so far, are surviving the redevelopments!
Worth viewing large just to see the dwarves.

Living Space (Almost Complete)

Well, it’s taken way too long, and not without it’s problems, but it’s finally taking shape.
All the wiring for the building was completed a long time ago. All this flat needs are sockets, light switches, and light fittings.
In the kitchen, the appliances need to be plumbed and wired, and the extractor fan needs to be installed. We can’t get Town Gas (piped gas) in our village, and I’ve yet to sort out an LP gas vendor. Some vendors offer a service whereby they check the gas tanks periodically (which are stored outside), and change empties, so that there’s never a break in your supply. Sounds like my kind of vendor!
There’s still places to be plastered, and then finally a couple of coats of emulsion to finish.
I’ve given my architect a deadline of mid December for completion, as I’d like to have the place ready in time for my Christmas dinner parties. If he pulls his finger out, it’s totally doable, but it’ll take constant chasing from me. It’s been 8 years since I applied for building permission (thanks to the bureaucratic Hong Kong Land’s Department!), but finally, finally, I see the promised land!
