Tuareg lady in a family I stayed with for a while cooking a whole lot of rice and goat for a feast we had — men and their wives and children came from all over with their camels.

After eating we danced in the scorching sun, clapping hands and chanting, and then all the women gathered in a little group, while the men rode around and around them (us) on the camels.

What was really amazing was that the camels seemed to run in rhythm with the music…

Strobist Information

Two SB-28’s, left one fired through a translucent umbrella at 1/4 power 85mm zoom just above knifes. Right one fired naked straight up and bounced off a white ceiling ½ power 24mm zoom.

Knifes are sitting on a piece of black felt under a sheet of glass removed from a cheap picture frame.

White board angled over the knifes to provide clean reflection in the glass.
