The Concrete Countertop Institute announces the formation of the new Concrete Countertop Society, a group of concrete countertop professionals who want to be successful at concrete countertops and help the industry grow. The Concrete Countertop Society’s mission is to help members keep up with the latest technologies and resources for concrete countertops and set the standard for quality and professionalism in the concrete countertop industry.

To help members learn about concrete countertop technologies, membership in the Society includes unlimited access to an information-intensive website called Concrete Connections, located at http://www.concretecountertops.org. The Concrete Connections website provides information about all aspects of precast and cast in place concrete countertop fabrication, including:

Articles about technical and business considerations in making concrete countertops

Tips and techniques designed to save members time and money

The website provides information about all styles and techniques of concrete countertop fabrication, regardless of the contractor’s training background or method for making concrete countertops.

The website features a members-only discussion forum closely moderated by Jeffrey Girard, P.E., president of The Concrete Countertop Institute and pioneer of engineered concrete countertops. The forum is members-only and moderated to avoid the misinformation and mudslinging common to public web forums.

The Concrete Countertop Institute has also announced the first-ever conference for the concrete countertop industry. The first annual Concrete Countertop Industry Conference will be held November 6-7, 2006 in Raleigh, NC. The conference is geared to contractors who are interested in learning about all of the resources currently available for making concrete countertops. Exhibitors will include manufacturers of materials and tools, including bagged concrete countertop mixes, admixtures, pigments, tools such as grinders, equipment such as mixers, and more.

Admission to the conference includes 9 informational seminars by industry experts on key topics ranging from getting started in concrete countertops to troubleshooting to a panel discussion of precast versus cast in place. The conference will bring together all of the contractors, manufacturers and industry experts involved in the concrete countertop profession for the first time ever, and promises to be an historic event.
