    hire a carpenter

Save some money and remove the material that is wet, and then determine what the cause is. Why pay someone at least $25 an hour to do this?

There is a leak. You need to find the leak so you can stop it. So it doesn’t get any worse.

Then you need to find out how bad the damage to the ceiling is.

Hopefully you can do all of this.

With a piece of TP wipe it around on the floor around the base of the toilet & near the supply valve.
Also check under the sink for any wet spots…… wipe around both supply valves. The TP will help you detect where the leak might be.
Many times tank to bowl gasket or bolts will leak ….it is subtle and hard to detect because it is slow and runs down the base of the bowl.

If you hire someone to fix it you want to hire a plumber for the leak, a carpenter would fix damage to that has been done, but you really need the leak stopped = plumber.
