We changed the vanities and tops to granite and installed tile and electric heated floors in the bath. The kitchen was so small, it did not cost very much to install new cabinets, floors and tops. New lights in the dining area made a big impact. We found the biggest pain in the neck was the time it took for the kitchen granite to be fabricated and using a temporary sink. So get one contractor to do all the work and coordinate the time line. I have a condo like you describe.
